Descrizione
Well aware of the reputation of some of their vintage guitars, Guild present a fresh take on the F-40 acoustic guitar. Its predecessor, the F-48 Navarre, was built between 1972 and 1976 and has been become a rare find. Thankfully, Guild have used the same traditional techniques to build this modern model - as well as the same woods. The solid spruce soundboard combines with a solid mahogany back and sides to shape a stunningly warm sound and ample sustain, which is beautifully boosted in terms of volume and projection thanks to the jumbo body.
Vintage Look
Guild has also gone back in time to polish off the looks of the F-40. From the tortoiseshell scratchplate to the Vintage Open Gear tuners, this guitar exudes class and tradition. Even the bone nut and bone saddle have carved by hand, and the saddle has been compensated to ensure extra-accurate intonation. The F-40 shines in every possible way and will keep any guitarist busy for years. And, so you can keep the instrument in mint condition, Guild even include a deluxe hard-case equipped with a built-in humidifier.

Had been looking at jumbos for some time - gibson j200 hate the moustache bridge and not keen on maple - Martin j40 is rosewood and quite nice - but have become a fan of mahogany for it’s warmth and clarity. So the Guild f40 looked like a good prospect - I had a d50 back in the seventies and loved it - it was stolen from me.
When I saw this one listed as B stock at almost half price it seemed too good to be true but worth a phone call to check it out. I spent a good half hour bending the ear of a very patient guy named Alex and we finally agreed it was worth taking a punt- it could always be returned.
Guitar arrived 2 days later well packaged in case, Guild box and Bax box.
In great condition, perhaps a little excess glue where heel meets shoulder but nothing to indicate any real faults.
Good setup, nice to play and lovely rich, warm tone. Great bass response. Very nice guitar.
